The four major deviant sects in Islam are Shia, Khawariz, Murji'ah and Qadriya. All of us should be aware of the characteristics and warning of Salaf regarding these deviant sects.
In this post, the main focus is on Salaf's Admonition regarding Murji'ah.
Who is Murji'ah:
"The Murji’ah differed from us in three matters:
We say that Iman is sayings and actions and they say that Iman is sayings without actions.
We say that it increases and decreases and they say that it does not increase and that it does not decrease.
We say that we are Mu’minun (only with) approval (i.e. by saying Insha-Allah) and they say that we are (guaranteed) Mu’minun in the eyes of Allah."

Warning about Murji'ah:
[1] Marfuu':
صنفان من أمتي لا يردان علي الحوض: القدرية ، والمرجئة.
وورد بلفظ:
صنفان من أمتي لا يردان الحوض ولا يدخلان الجنة : القدرية والمرجئة
Two classes/sects from my ummah don't (cannot) expect haud (Haud al kawthir) : Al-Qadriyaa and Al-Murjiyah.
Anther wording - Two classes/sects from my ummah don't expect haud (Haud al kawthir) and they will not enter into jannah : Al-Qadriyaa and Al-Murjiyah.
Shaykh al-Albaanee graded it as sahih in 'Al-Silsilah al-Sahihah' number: 2784.
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله الفرغاني قال نا هارون بن موسى الفروي قال نا أبو ضمرة انس بن عياض عن حميد عن انس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم القدرية والمرجئة مجوس هذه الامة فإن مرضوا فلا تعودوهم وان ماتوا فلا تشهدوهم : هارون بن موسى الفروي الطبراني في معجمه الأوسط ج 4/ ص 281 حديث رقم: 4205
Narrated from anas he said, Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said – Al-Qadriyya and Al-Murjiya are majus of the ummah. Therefore, if they become sick, don’t return to them and if they die don’t join the funeral.
(Tabraani in M’ujamu ala’wsat, part 4, page 281, hadith no 4205).
Another similar narration hadith no 11873 -
11873 - وعن أنس بن مالك قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : القدرية والمرجئة مجوس هذه الأمة فإن مرضوا فلا تعودوهم وإن ماتوا فلا تشهدوهم - رواه الطبراني في الأوسط ورجاله رجال الصحيح غير هارون بن موسى الفروي وهو ثقة :
Al- Haisami authnenticated it Majmu al Jawaid, vol: 7, page: 417. He said all person in this narration are authentic according to all scholar except harun and according to him harun is also sikah (authentic in memory and honesty).
[2] Marfuu':
عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ , صلى الله عليه وسلم: صِنْفَانِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ لَيْسَ لَهُمَا فِى الإِسْلاَمِ نَصِيبٌ الْمُرْجِئَةُ وَالْقَدَرِيَّةُ : أخرجه عبد بن حميد (579) والتِّرْمِذِيّ" 2149 و"ابن ماجة" 62
Narrated by Ikrimah from Ibn Abbas he said, Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, Two classes/sects from this ummah - they have no share in Islam Al-Qadriyya and Al-Murjiyah. [timidhi (2149) and ibn maajah (62)]
Imaam Tirmidhee graded it as Hasan Sahih Gharib. And al-Tabaaree authenticated it.
[3] Maqtu Narration:
1457 - أنا محمد بن أحمد البصير ، أنا عثمان بن أحمد ، قال : نا حنبل ، قال : حدثني أبو عبد الله ، قال : نا مؤمل ، قال : نا سفيان ، قال : نا سعيد بن صالح يعني الأسدي قال : قال إبراهيم :
لأنا لفتنة المرجئة أخوف على هذه الأمة من فتنة الأزارقة

Narrated by 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad from his father from Mu'ammil from Sufiyaan from Sa'eed bin Saalih from Ibraheem (Al-Nakh'ee):
Surely the tribulation of Al-Murjiyah is more frightful on this ummah than the tribulation of Al-Aazhaari'qah (Al-Aazhaari'qah are extreme Khawaarij). [Sharh usulus sunnah lil imam ahmahd narrated by Abdullah bin Ahmad 1/313… Ibn Battah 1/378]
[4] Maqtu Narration:
1467 - أنا الحسن بن عثمان ، أنا أحمد بن جعفر ، قال : نا بشر بن موسى ، قال : نا معاوية بن عمرو ، قال : نا إسحاق ، ثنا الأوزاعي ، قال : كان يحيى بن أبي كثير ، وقتادة يقولان :
« ليس من الأهواء شيء أخوف عندهم على هذه الأمة من الإرجاء »

Narrated by 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad from his father from Muwawiah bin amr from Abu ishaq said, Awzawi said Yahya and Qatadah both said - Nothing is more frightful on the ummah from desires/whims than Irja.

وعن المغيرة بن عتيبة عن سعيد بن جبير قال: المرجئة يهود القبلة - : رواه عبد الله بن أحمد1/341 واللالكائي5/ 1061 وابن بطة 1/377
Sayeed bin Jubair said : Murjia are the jews of the qiblah.
وعن مسلم الملائي عن ابراهوعن مسلم الملائي عن ابراهيم قال: (الخوارج أعذر عندي من المرجئة) : رواه عبد الله بن أحمد 1/337
Ibrahim Nakhi said: Khawarij are more excused to me than Murjeah.

حدثني أبي نا إسماعيل عن أيوب قال قال سعيد بن جبير غير سائله ولا ذاكرا ذاك له لا تجالس طلقا يعني أنه كان يرى رأي المرجئة إسناده صحيح :
لإيمان لابن سلام رواه أبو عبيد 34 وعبد الله بن أحمد 1/314 الآجري 3/681 واللالكائي5/1062 وابن بطة 1/378
Narrated by 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad from his father from Isma'il from Ayyub said that Sayid bin Jubair said –
Don’t ask him (questions), don’t discuss issues with him, don’t sit with 'Talaq' means that he who opines like the opinion of Al-Murjia.
